Summer loving? Loving summer!

You might well be thinking, 'it's way too early to be getting excited about bikinis, let alone blogging about them', but a combination of the warm weather and US Vogue's (April 2011) collaboration between Lara Stone and Mario Testino means that I am currently suffering from a severe case of bikini fever! After seeing these beautiful photos taken in Rio de Janeiro featuring graphic print bikinis reminiscent of none other than Brigitte Bardot, I was inspired to start scouting for my 2011 beachwear.

Zadig & Voltaire

It will come as no great surprise that some of my favourites so far come from the Zadig & Voltaire and Isabel Marant collections. I think that black swimwear is going to be a big deal this summer (when is it ever not?!), and I particularly love the combination of black with white stars. The best thing about this Z&V one is the pink detail around some of the stars

Isabel Marant

This Isabel Marant creation is fairly similar, but a couple of things make it really really special. Firstly, the material is more cotton-based than your usual bikini (see the third picture) which creates a great, slightly bohemian, effect. I'm not quite sure about the practicality, but when it looks this good, who really cares?! Secondly, the bigger ties make it stand out from the average triangle bikini; at first I thought this was possibly a bit OTT, but I quickly came around - it's such a charming and girly feature. Lastly, I absolutely love the contrasting inner layer. It seems completely irrelevant to the star theme, but herein lies the charm; the colours work really well together, and once again it creates that relaxed bohemian effect. Definitely my favourite.

We Are Handsome

Not normally something that I would immediately go for, but We Are Handsome's 'Los Angeles Triangle Bikini' is super cool. If, like me, you are OBSESSED with all things LA, then this might just make the perfect companion to a slightly more low-key one.

And finally...

I was always a bit sceptical when it came to cut-out swimsuits...they have the potential to be extremely trashy if you're not very careful...but I was won over a few months ago by a simple black one I came across in a magazine (I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it, but this So De Mel version is not too far off). If you've got the body for it then this can be hugely flattering, as well as sexy. The only catch...tan lines anyone?!

Until next time bitches...

Oh. My. Looklet.

Apologies if i'm a million years behind but I couldn't not blog about this. I recently came across an amazing website called Looklet which allows you to style models with an enormous range of clothes from most of the top designers in the world, and to share these creations with your friends. Absolute genius. It's perfect for girls like me who are obsessed with fashion but don't quite have the funds to fuel the addiction, and is a must for all budding stylists. Even if you're never going to be able to afford most of the clothes (for the foreseeable future at least), Looklet allows you to discover exactly what works with what, and you're bound to be able to achieve similar effects with clothes you already have, or those you might find on the High Street. I'm convinced that it's going to revolutionise the way we choose our clothes and put outfits together; i've certainly drawn inspiration from some of the looks i've created and i've only been using it properly for two days!

I wanted to show you a couple of the looks that i've already bashed out...I hope it inspires you to give it a go yourself. One warning though - Looklet is the fashion equivalent of Facebook - once you start, you won't be able to stop! Enjoy!

Street style #4: Cheap Monday

I feel a bit guilty letting the fashionable people of London do all the hard work for me, but I really wanted to share just one more street style picture for the time being. This girl works the almost all black look so well, and I love how she's teamed the cut-off denim shorts with a cool branded tee. Such a great look!

Street style #3: Black is ALWAYS the new black

A couple of weeks ago, Wallace did a post about wearing all black. He said 'a lot of people say that New Zealander's wear way too much black...and they say it like it's a bad thing!'  I couldn't agree with the latter part of this statement more. When I saw this girl waiting for her friends on Oxford Street, I thought she looked great and it really took me back to what Wallace had said. One of the best things you can do is wear black from head to foot; it's absolutely classic and provides the perfect base for some interesting accessories. Trust me, it really doesn't have to exude 'goth' or 'emo'. I'm dying to try something like this with just one single neon piece, maybe a belt...I feel an outfit post coming on!

Amazing boots!

Street style #2: Too cool

These girls attracted my attention because of the bright colours they were wearing. I'm always on the lookout for people working colours like this as it's just so important this season. I can't believe how cool they both are, and such naturals in front of the camera which is always an absolute pleasure!

Street style #1: School's out!

Inspired by Wallace Chapman's Street and City Photos (my absolute favourite blog), my latest hobby is to hit the streets and take pictures of cool and well-dressed people. I met these two girls on Oxford Street today. I'd seen them in the distance and was preparing myself to ask for a photograph when they came up to me and asked where my shoes were from - way to break the ice! When I asked for a picture in return, they protested with 'oh but this is just our school uniform'!! Well, I have never seen such cool school girls in my life; they remind me of the girls you see on Gossip Girl who go to Constance. The girl on the left is even a bit of a young Blake Lively... Such a great jumper, and such great accessories...and don't get me started on how jealous I am of her hair!

Serena and Blair?

Until next time xo xo
